I’ was born in nov.1955, the first Elvis record I bought was a
45 rpm single In The Ghetto / Any day Now it was in 1971. The first LP
was Elvis now, the second He Touched Me, since these 2 LP’s I have
all the records edited by RCA/BMG.
I was in
USA in 1977 when Elvis died I was supposed to see Him on tour with
12 French people between Aug.18 & Aug.28 we arrived in New York
Aug 13 & in Memphis Aug.19
During
this travel I’ve been able to see the influence of Elvis in the
United States it was impossible to find a record in a record shop,
impossible to listen a radio without an Elvis song everybody was
talking about Him writing in newspaper. I met my future wife Florence
in a fan club in 1978.
My
second travel in Memphis was with her in 1980, we have been in Dayton
Ohio at the Bob Heis convention, We spent wonderful day during this
convention watching the movies of Elvis on stage especially Madison
Square Garden 1972 & Boston Gardens 1971.
We have been in Tupelo & we
met Kathy Westmoreland in Los Angeles talk with Her all the afternoon
at her office.
During
this travel we’ve been in Nashville, to see the Gold Cadillac, &
in Pigeon Forge where there is a very interesting museum as the host
says we were the first French people to visit the museum & He let
us take pictures of us inside the Elvis car. Now in 2000 the cars are
under alarm it’s impossible to touch it. We were in the audience for
a concert of Merle Haggard during the Elvis week.
That was
also the inauguration of the Elvis statue at Beale Plazza we were
there.
In
1982 I married with Florence & we travel in USA for one month
& we spend one week in Memphis during the Elvis week. This time ce
furent les retrouvailles avec Bob Heis & Bruce a great moment.
We
were in Memphis for new year’s evening 99/00 for a dinner at Elvis
Presley Restaurant we spent one week in Florida & returned in
Memphis for Elvis birthday & we were in the audience for “Elvis
The Concert” at Mid-south Coliseum the audience was not very good
but the coliseum is a special place. Then we came back in France
waiting avec impatience “Elvis The Concert” in Paris Bercy. We met
the musicians the Stamps & the Sweet;
In
the future (so help me God), we have a project to return in USA &
Canada in 2002, for the 25th anniversary of Elvis death. We
want also to go in Nashville & spend few days in Tennesse. We want
also to go in Montréal, Québec, Niagara Falls.
