With special thanks to Mayor
of Tupelo City, Mississippi - Larry K Otis, for permission to use the
photgraph taken on Elvis's birthday.

Note :
The fine Bronze statue of Elvis Presley, depicted as a young boy by the
gifted Sculptor Michiel Van der Sommen, was first suggested to the Mayor
of Tupelo by my good friends Maurice and Maureen Colgan of Swords, Ireland
in a letter he wrote to the Mayor back in 1999. (The, "fans from
Ireland", mentioned in M. Scott Morris's article in the 9th January
edition of the, "Daily Journal", of Tupelo)
They are delighted and proud to have played a small part in this beautiful
tribute to Tupelo's most famous son. Maurice came up with these poignant
words: "This fine statue of young Elvis, if anything can, represents
how the boy, is father to the man".
